Does LOKAL work on macOS or mobile devices?+
The presenter application and PowerPoint add-in require a Windows computer. Students can join activities from any modern mobile or desktop browser without installing an app.
Does installation require an internet connection?+
No. The all-in-one installer contains the LOKAL server, PowerPoint add-in, tray app, .NET Framework 4.8 installer, and VSTO runtime. Internet access is needed only for online-mode features and updates.
Why is the LOKAL tab missing after installation?+
Close every PowerPoint window before setup, run the installer as administrator, and open PowerPoint only after installation finishes. In PowerPoint, also check File → Options → Add-ins → COM Add-ins and confirm LOKAL is enabled.
Can an IT administrator deploy LOKAL with MSI packages?+
Yes. Separate MSI packages are available for the server, PowerPoint add-in, and status tray app. Contact the LOKAL development team—Keith Renz D. Romblon and Camille R. Ramilo—directly to request managed deployment files.
How can I confirm that I downloaded the official installer?+
Use the “Check the downloaded file on Windows” command above before installing. It calculates the file's SHA-256 checksum and compares it with the checksum published by LOKAL. A matching checksum confirms that the installer is unchanged.
What if the download does not start?+
Try a different browser, disable any download accelerator temporarily, verify that enough disk space is available, and make sure your school network allows downloads from download.lokal.college.
